Bedlam - A hospital in London, (shortened form of Bethlehem), that became known as an insane asylum during the fourteenth century.
Cheshire Cat - From Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carol. He vanished at whatever rate he likes, sometimes immediately, sometimes starting with his tail and ending with his grin.
The Artful Dodger - Rory's nickname for Jess after he stole her book, from Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Dodger was the best lowlife thief, who was eventually caught and sentenced to hanging; Oliver Twist was born into a hard life, but received a couple good opportunities, took them, and eventually fell into a good life.
Lean Cuisine - According to the commercial: good proportioned, healthy meal for dieters.
Babs (in repsonse to Rory's "...your part of the deal, buster" comment) - Buster Bunny was a Tiny Toons characters. Babs Bunny was his partner-in-crime/good friend/I-wanna-date-you-but-you-don't-ge
Other Notes:
- Some dialogue borrowed from "Star-Crossed Lovers and Other Strangers"
- We're currently doing research papers in English. Finding a topic that Jess would go for? Good god. So impossible. And then my teacher typed up a list of everyone's topics, and on it was "Society's faith in the infallibility of books" and I was like, "Perfect."
- I went through hell on this chapter. Louise had a party the Saturday after the Rory went to after the breakup, but no breakup meant no party. Or would Rory invite Jess to the party? And then Dean would go. And would Lane still go? And then, Rory's relationship with Dean still good, no, there would be no invite. Even after I had all that figured out, I still had more to add to this chapter, but I stopped. It's best left cut. It'll probably end up in here later anyway.
